So, I want you to explain me how you would define what is Manual Lock-On. Like, what it is that makes a lock-on mechanic a manual one? Don't forget to bring examples on some games and explaining how it works. I'm doing research on the matter and I would appreciate it if you would help me saying your stance at this, thank you!

Manual lock on is were you the player activate the Lock on. Best examples would be like Devil May cry game series or Kingdom hearts were you press a button and lock onto a specific enemy and can switch which enemy you are locked onto. While auto lock on would be like what is in Dragon Age Inquisition. When you approach an enemy it auto locks onto them causing you to target them. Though generally looking at a new enemy will cause you to lock onto said enemy
